Surgery is Over

Cindy's surgery was successful (see previous post). I spoke to my brother-in-law Bruce and it took over 6 hours but she was in recovery. He will not be able to see her until 7:30 (CA time). The doctor told him that she has strong thick bones and that was a good thing since the doc had to put screws and rods into her back. Now comes the tough time, recovery. Thank you for your prayers and please when you can say some more for a steady good rehabilitation.

Catch Up

Okay, I will try to be as brief as possible. Crazy busy at work (end of fiscal year is today 3/31). School, disappointing second test grade, going to stick it out and hope for the best. Went to my neighborhood resale shop and picked up the treasures below. Made a few cards and duplicated some previously posted cards to keep for my stash. Very interesting/scary e-mail exchange with a man on the online dating site. I will tell that story in another post.

Today my sister Cindy in CA is having a VERY extensive back surgery. The actual operation is scheduled to last over 5 hours. Please send good vibes and prayers her way so that she is out of pain and more mobile than she has been in a while.

This beautiful hankie just screamed "buy me".

I can't believe that this was of any use as a hankie, it's too sheer.

Here is a purse that I just fell in love with.

I really find the pattern on this cup and saucer beautiful.

The brads on this card spell the word "golf"

Black & White

Well, the tests are done and tomorrow I will find out what my point total is and make the decision to either withdraw from the class or stick it out and take my chances at getting a passing grade. Keep your fingers crossed. Update tomorrow.

Here is another positive/negative card.
Pre-packaged square card 4-3/4"
Double sided designer paper.
SU "Friendship Blooms" stamp set.
Embellishments from Michael's for $1.00 (impulse buy at the check out counter).

Early Morning Crafting

So this morning as I was lying in bed and this card came into my head. So, before work I cut and stamped everything that I needed and I just assembled it here at my desk at work. Thank goodness I didn't do the crazy thing like yesterday and delete the images. The patterned paper is double sided so it was just a matter of switching sides. The stamp is SU, the black and white cardstock is SU.

The clips are only on the envelope to hold it closed because I stamped over the seal and wanted it to lie flat.

I know, I know NOT ANOTHER ROSE CARD!
I must have stamped and colored a gazillion of these images because I just keep finding more of them. So for an easy card I am using them up. Sorry for the constant repeat.

Stay tuned later for an update on the online dating scene. I am going to see if I can copy my exact e-mail exchange with someone. I want to get your opinions on whether you are thinking along the same lines as I was.

Something New

I am SOOOOOO bummed!
I had a new card, new image (not the same old rose) and when I went to upload it to the blog it was gone out of my camera. The card was for my nephew Mike in California who's birthday was 3/19. It was late and so I was in a hurry to get it into the mail. Long story short, the card is gone and I can't take a picture. It was a "Surferfella" from the Bella stamp group. So, instead of a new card here is a picture of my little girl Miss Gidget. (enlarge the photo and look at her cute face)

Weekend Crafting

Here are the other pictures that Blogger wouldn't load from my previous post.
These cards were requested by my sister Cindy. (2 anniversary, 1 wedding, 2 female birthday)The remainder are just for my stash.

Happy Belated Easter

Happy Belated Easter!
My Easter was very uneventful. I spent the day studying for the first part of my accounting exam. Tonight is part one and Wednesday night is part two. These two tests will determine whether I stay in this class, the drop date is Friday.

In between studying I did some crafting and have a bunch of pictures but Blogger is being a bit testy and I could only get these pictures to load. I will try to update later.

I hope that everyone had a good Easter and that you found all of the eggs that were hidden by the Easter Bunny.

RAK Goodness

I do not have a card that I made to put up today. I spent a good portion of my evening at the school library studying for my exam next Monday and Wednesday.

Instead, I have a card that I received from my blogging buddy Michelle who sent me some wonderful words of care. Thank you VERY MUCH Michelle. I wasn't that impressed with this new stamp set until I started seeing what Michelle and others have been doing with it. I may have to change my mind and add this set to my collection. Again, a BIG thank you for thinking of me Michelle.

Born To Ride

Tomorrow is my brother Rick's birthday. I made the first card for him because he is an avid biker. This card will go well with the Harley Davidson shirt that I picked up for him when I was out in Hollywood visiting our sister Cindy. The last card will go into my stash. The stamp set used is a retired SU set entitled "Born To Ride". The cardstock is also SU. The patterned paper is from the Harley Davidson line. The brads are from my stash.

Today is also my first nephew Mike's birthday (that's right, I have two nephews named Mike). I haven't finished his card yet, so it is going to be late. This is a horrible habit that I MUST break, lateness in handmade cards getting out to people must be corrected. So, if you receive a late card it is not because I don't think highly of you, it's because I don't start things early enough. Perhaps I should start my Christmas cards now so that they get out in time, lol!

No Card

I don't have a card to post today. Instead I have some interesting observations. I have put myself out on the online dating market. In fact I have joined three of the available online services. Two everyone has probably heard of, E-Harmony and Match.com. I have posted current pictures, one of which you will now find on this blog.

Now, I am not excessively tall (5' 7-1/2") but I would prefer someone of my same height or taller. I know that sometimes the "perfect" man may be packaged in a smaller size and therefore I am being open minded. I however have difficulty with the comb over. Are there any other women out there that feel that bald is better than a comb over?

The other very odd thing that I am running into is many men contacting me that live out of state. That part is not disturbing in and of itself, the disturbing thing is that all of the profiles are all written in good English with good grammar. However, when I receive an e-mail (from within the site)from one of the out of towners it scares me. Clearly the person now "speaking" to me does not have a good grasp of the English language. They all have suffered a loss of their spouse via an accident and want to continue our correspondence via our personal yahoo accounts. Many times they just happen to be out of the country on either a job or a humanitarian cause. Do these men think that women are this stupid? Clearly the person in contact with me is not the person in the profile. I am just wondering if they copy and paste a profile, add a picture frame picture and prey on the women.

Yikers, this whole dating scene in your 40's is pretty scary. So, if you are married or in a relationship, hug your special man and thank God that you are not out in the dating market.

Oh, and for anyone who knows who Captain Kangaroo is, I have been contacted by him. He looks just like he did 30 years ago and is alive and kicking, living in what looks to be a basement or attic.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Here is an Easter card that I made this weekend. I know that it is St. Patrick's Day but I had posted so many St. Paddy's Day cards earlier that I thought I should have some Easter cards this week since Easter is this Sunday.

The image is from High Hopes. The cardstock is SU.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I Do

It is at times like this that I feel old.
My niece is getting married tomorrow and this is the card that I made for her wedding. Of my 11 nieces and nephews she is number 10 in birth order. The fact that she is a grown woman and ready to make a lifelong commitment just made me feel old when I made this card. I wish her much love and happiness as she partakes on this new journey in her life.

The stamped images are SU (To Have and To Hold).
The cardstock and patterned paper was from a 12x12 wedding themed paper stack bought at JoAnn's (with a 40% coupon of course). The heart brads came from my stash.

Peachy Thank You

I know that this layout is getting old but I needed a quick thank you card and had the colored rose done and just put together the card. I hope to have more original cards after the weekend.

Peachy Rose

Here is a card that I made last night.
The rose image I had already stamped and colored and I just "put together" the rest of the card. The envelope picture did not come out very well but there is a stamped rose bouquet on the lower left corner. The card also has flowers stamped on the very vanilla cardstock.

Birthday

Here is a quick birthday card.
I had the 3-D embillishments and brads in my stash.
