A Question????

I need some help, please!!!
I am in my annual craft fair on 11/10 and although I have been doing this for years, always have the hardest time pricing my stuff.
So, here is where you come in.
Please take a moment to leave me some feedback of how much would you pay for the item below?
It is one package of bath salts (one application) that I bought for $1.00. The remainder is stamping supply stuff (SU double sided paper, ribbon, cardstock and a stamped image).
Once I got the demo done it really wasn't hard to assemble.
So PLEASE........ How much would you pay for this?

Swap Delights IV

Here is the item that Michelle altered and in which all of the goodies from the previous posts were contained. Look how nicely the can looks hanging next to my dining room curtains LOL!

I truly love all the goodies that you took the time to make for me Michelle and the many things that you bought. I will be using the supplies and you will see them in future posts. The hard part will be deciding what to start with first. I guess I'll just have to sit down, ponder that dilemma and eat some of my candy! I am very grateful for all of your hard work Michelle.

Swap Delight Part III

Isn't he the greatest? Stamp him in versamark, black embossing powder, then some stickles? A little green where his skin is showing....Hmmmm, many possibilities.

I can feel the Prismacolors coming out for this one. I hope my Gamsol comes soon.

Look at these cool ribbons. Maybe those sliders from an earlier post will be used with these. I feel experimenting in my future.

Not a great picture because of the glare from the flash. This is a clear stamp with the word "forever" on it. This one would be excellent in a wedding card that I will have to make for a wedding this December.

This plate for dry embossing can be used for both Halloween and Thanksgiving. I'm thinking chalks over the dry embossed image.

Here are great examples (BAD pictures) of the handmade cards that Michelle included in my package. I love the way that she designs and lays out the card. Michelle has such a good eye for combining different papers and they always manage to look great together. Sorry for the poor quality on the pics, I will be bringing the whole box of goodies to work tomorrow to show off and I will take new pics of the cards that will do them justice.

You really can't see it in the pictures but these alphabet stickers are glittery. They just scream (pun intended) Halloween.

Swap Delight Part II

Look at these buttons!!! Are they not the bomb? Check out Lil' Frank with his Trick or Treat bag. The green face on the witch is priceless. I have ideas spinning in my head for these little guys.

Maybe some of these will make it on to a cross-stitched towel. Perhaps the ghosts on either side of the word "BOO"? Hmmmm, my mind is turning.

I had to take these acryllic slides out of the package because I couldn't get a good picture. Sorry for the glare from the flash. I have tons of ribbon that would work with these slides. The problem will be in choosing which ribbon, LOL!!!

Swap Delight Part I

I have to do this in sections because Blogger is pokey joeing about uploading pictures, and I took a ton for all the wonderful goodies that I received from my swap partner Michelle. Let me just tell you that Michelle was working her fingers to the bone. There is sooooo much handmade goodness in my package that I still haven't fully played with it all. I wanted to take pictures last night and get them on here so that everyone can see the wonderful things that Michelle sent to me.

Here is the stamped and constructed basket container that has my munchable goodies inside.

Count Mickula

Just wanted to post a picture of the Mickey Mouse "stakes" that I got last Christmas from my sister Caryn. (She works at the Disney store) I couldn't get Mickey's head to stay up to show his fangs and Dracula-like pendent. My house definitely would not be decorated if there wasn't a Halloween Mickey.

Card Creations

Sorry that this image is blurry, the whole new camera learning curve thingie.

So here is the card that I came up with for a SU workshop that I have coming up this Saturday. I wanted something that was simple to make yet different. I hope that the ladies like this card. I have 8 packages assembled and hope that my hostess doesn't have more than eight guests or I'll have to substitute colors. Here are the ingredients:

Paper: SU Whisper White, Garden Green and Real Red

Patterned Paper: Doodlebug Design "1090 Cheerfully Christmas Dots"

Stamp Set: SU Love & Joy

Ink: SU Real Red

7/8" Circle punch

Ticket corner punch

Pop dots

This card I agonized over for days, nothing seemed right and I am still not happy with it but I wanted to get it off of my mind. I stamped the image and colored it with the other images from this set and couldn't decide what to pair it with. I chose the basic gray to back the image because I had colored the pail to look like a silver bucket. I then chose wild wasabi because I like the way it worked with the green apples. Here is where the real problem came in. I didn't want to use a red card because I felt it would look too much like Christmas. I was also having a hard time finding patterned paper that I liked that had the gray and green in it. This is why I say that I don't make good cards, I have such a problem when things just don't "match" perfectly in my mind. I found that the retired SU patterned paper "Pool Party" had green, white, a smidge of a gray tone so I decided to go with that paper. The card is from a box of multiple colored textured cards that I got from Michael's and the brads are from my stash. I want to try this image again, perhaps coloring all of the apples either green or red and making a new card. I think that I would not have such a hard time that way. Either way, it's done, out of my mind and now I am free to think up another Christmas card for the workshop coming up this weekend. I'm thinking something blue...maybe snowflakes...I'm off to ponder.

A Package Has Arrived

I got a package yesterday from the man in brown, a.k.a. the U.P.S. man.

It came from California from my sister Cindy (oceansidecindy).
She moved to California two years ago and I miss her, not just because we are family but because we worked together and believe me we got along well, did our work, had fun. Unlike my current situation with the person that has tried to replace some of the work that Cindy did. Luckily there is a third person in the office or there probably would have been a blood bath by now. Enough on that....

She had special treats for myself and our brother Rick.

For Rick, Cindy made a shadow box frame of a picture of him and our recently deceased (7/07) black lab Harley. When I adopted Harley from a shelter, Cindy and I named her Harley in hopes that Rick would like her (he rides a Harley) and not get too angry that I was bringing this large, slightly untamed dog home. Cindy took a picture that she had and using Harley Davidson three dimensional stickers (no doubt bought at a craft store, yea Cindy I knew I could suck you into this crafting world) personalized the picture. It was a hoot to look at the picture because both Rick and Harley have no gray. I am guessing this picture was at least 7 or 8 years old??? Cindy also isolated Harley in the picture and had it enlarged and framed it for Rick. We both miss Harley, however Rick and Harley spent their days together and forged a deeper closer bond. I know that he still has a heavy heart from her loss.

For me, Cindy made a binder/book of the area where she lives and the intended destinations that we will be visiting when I come out to see her in December on vacation. She had aerial views of her house, her neighborhood, the route to the beach...She had mapped out our trips (San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Disneyland, Hollywood). She used stickers (another craft store visit?) We will have some action packed fun filled days ahead of us and if this trip is anything like the trips we have taken in the past, we will see everything on her list. I will take pictures and post them of the goodies in the package! I love packages!!!

Cindy also made the paper and that too was included in the package.

So Ms. Cindy, I loved the package, will study my maps so I don't ask "Where are we?", "Where are we going?", "When will we be there?". I will have a package going out to you this week or weekend, just some Halloween fun! I love you and miss you and cannot wait to see you in December.

Falling Leaves

Here is the second image that I stamped and colored with my Prismacolor pencils. By process of elimination I have figured out what color is what in the SU earth elements family. It was much easier with all the papers in front of me and the catalog.

Happy Fall Ya' All

I stamped this image eons ago and finally got around to coloring it. As I was spying on other blogs, many of the very creative women out there kept referring to "gamsol and stumps". I investigated what that was all about and found out that there is an easier way to blend then my way. I tried finding the gamsol at Micheal's but they did not have it, the store manager must of thought I was crazy because I couldn't explain what it was other then a blending agent to be used with the Prismacolor pencils and stumps. At least I had the stumps in my hand so he didn't think I was entirely a wanky wench. So I bought my stumps and eraser and had to order the gamsol online and I am still waiting for delivery, so this card was done with just my pencils and the best that I could do to blend with them.

Here are the ingredients (to the best of my ability, see post below).

Paper: SU More Mustard or possibly Pumpkin Pie?
SU Old Olive or possibly Garden Green?
Patterned Paper from a stack bought at either Michael's or JoAnn Fabrics (with a coupon of course)

The pictures aren't that great, still trying to get the hang of the whole digital camera and holding myself steady.

I Need Help

So this post is a cry for help from any of the SU sisters out in blog land.

I made a card and will post it later today and would like to give the "ingredients". I know that the paper I used was from the earth elements family, but when I go to figure out what specific colors by looking at my SU color wheel or the catalog there is a vast difference. Having worked for printers in my lifetime, I know that the printed color is NEVER the same as the actual / original work but I am perplexed.

So, here is my question: "How do you know exactly when you have a pack of {family} paper, which color is which?"

Wrapping

So, I fell in love with this ribbon and I am not quite sure if I made the right choice to use it on the bridal shower gift so I will let you make the call.

Close up of the bow, I just love this ribbon, and even though there is glitter in the ribbon it really didn't flake off like some glittered ribbons do.

Couldn't find my little embossing powder resist sack so the embossing wasn't as good as I would have liked but I was pressed for time.

So the question, was it okay to have a black bow on a bridal shower gift when you are not sure of the color of the bridesmaid's dresses?

CSI: Miami

I enjoy the CSI's (all that is except the one in New York). Something about the main female in the show and her previous show where she was a doctor was the reason I didn't get into that version.

So anyhow...last season I got involved in watching "What About Brian" which was on opposite to CSI: Miami. I didn't catch the reruns this past summer. So, since "What About Brian" is not on yet this season and I can watch CSI: Miami on demand to catch up I watched this season's opener this weekend. WHOA, alot that I don't know about has happened and I was wondering if there are any CSI: Miami fans out there that can catch me up on last season?

Who ended up being the spy/snitch?
Wasn't Horacio going to marry someone's sister?
What happened to the guy with the eye injury? Why is he off the team and trying to get back on?
Who's the new police guy?

Anyone who can help with the answers to my questions it will be greatly appreciated.

Halloween Swap Goodies Part I

Okay, when I started to pack up the box that is going out to Michelle, my Halloween swap partner, I decided that I could post some of the pictures because they don't reveal the actual "gifts". There is a card (not disclosed) and another package (not disclosed) that will remain a surprise. These will be going out tomorrow either via UPS (paperwork that I didn't know needed to be filled out and that is why they didn't leave today) or via U.S. Mail depending on whether I can get to the post office tomorrow at lunch.

Like stated below, the only thing not wrapped is the package of Frankenstein towels so I am not really letting out the secret of my swap, just the wrappings.

Here are some of the treats, everything is wrapped so it doesn't give it away except for the Frankenstein towels. I had a blast wrapping these things.

This is the card that I made for Max, my friend Simone's son because he is dealing with Venn Diagrams at school and they are a challenge (believe me, I know, when in my 40's I had to deal with them in a statistics class). I found paper that kinda resembled Venn Diagrams and made a very feeble attempt at making my own. Not the best card but the feelings were in it.

Halloween Swap

Last night I worked on getting everything wrapped and ready to go to Michelle my swap buddy for the Halloween swap. I don't want to post pictures because I don't want to spoil the surprise. Barring any unforeseen circumstances the packages should be on there way today.

Just General Stuff

Well, this weekend wasn't that eventful. Like most Friday nights I just vegetate because the week finally catches up with me and I am tired.

Saturday I came into work for a few hours then drove out to my Mom's (I am now 1/2 way there when I am at the office) and we went to lunch. My sister Jenny and BIL Tom joined us. They were fortunate enough (or maybe not) to be going to the Cubs game that evening. (The Cubs were swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks 3 games to nothing in the best of 5 series). Found out that the scrapbooking store that I was hunting for last weekend was right under my nose, but they no longer sell the usual scrappin' stuff, they just do custom wedding invitations. My discount punch card that was almost full is useless at the new store. MAJOR BUMMER!!!

Saturday night I went over to my cousin Fran's house for dinner. Watched some of the horrible Cubs game and was super bummed because I had $20.00 on the game.

Sunday, went to Target and picked up a few things (gift wrapping bows and ribbons at a deep discount, yeah!!!). Then over to Hallmark for wrapping paper for the bridal shower gift for my good friend Bubbles' son's wedding shower. Those of you who know me know that I am VERY anal retentive about my wrapping, LOL!!! I also bought two Christmas gifts while I was out on my shopping excursions. Worked on a card for my buddy Max (Simone's son) I'll post it when I know that he has received his package in the mail. Received some of the mail ordered items for my swap buddy Michelle's Halloween gift. I have to get those goodies out to her soon as they are travelling north to Canada. The rest of the weekend was very ordinary, dull and boring. I hope to post pictures soon as I have been slacking and there is no excuse since I have a new camera.

Here is the answer to Mismatched Joe's dilemma:

Joe has a ZERO chance of drawing out a black pair of socks.
Since there is a 2/3 chance of drawing a white pair, then there must be 5 white socks and only 1 black sock. The chances of drawing two white socks would thus be: 5/6 x 4/5 = 2/3. With only one black sock, there is no chance that Joe could draw a pair of black socks.

Another Brain Teaser

Mismatched Joe is in a pitch dark room selecting socks from his drawer.
He only has six socks in his drawer, a mixture of black and white.

The Test

Well, I didn't do well on my exams. Just like I thought they did me in. To sum it all up in a nutshell, I failed. A passing grade was a 55. The highest grade in our class was an 88. So, in order to pass the class I need to get a 69.5 on each of the next two classes. There is one more exam before the drop date and I intend to take that test, assess I how I did and determine if I will withdraw and try again in the new year. Let me just say, for someone who usually gets good grades this test score was a giant punch in the stomach. Well, no use crying over spilled milk, I just have to suck it up and do better on the next test and see if it is good enough to stay and finish this semester.

Room To Move

Well, the porch was loaded this morning in the dark and fog.
My AmVet donation ended up consisting of four 18 gallon Rubbermaid totes and twelve large garbage bags. I still have stuff to sort through out in the garage but I am feeling confident that soon I will be back parking in the garage. There are a few things that need to come back into the house and I will need to make a place for them. That just means more purging inside so I will be doing that whenever I get a few spare moments.

Tonight I should be getting the results of last week's exams. DUM-DE-DUM DUM.... I just want a passing grade. I have resolved myself that I should not expect an A or even a B in this class, just get a C and move on is my motto this semester. To get through this class only once will be a joy and will bring me great happiness. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I hope to do some crafting soon and will post any creations at that time. In the interim, have a great Tuesday!

Weekend

Well, I didn't get any crafting done this weekend.

I spent Saturday cruising a few craft stores and picking up some stuff for my Halloween swap buddy Michelle, and of course adding to my stash some cute things. At Hobby Lobby, everything scrapbook related was 50% off. How could I pass on a sale like that? I picked up some punches and paper (cuz, just like shoes or fabric you never have enough paper).

Sunday was spent out in the garage going through the many Rubbermaid containers and purging. I have AmVets coming tomorrow and I must have all of my donations on the front porch before I leave for work. This is my early week (7am-4pm) and I will need to have the porch loaded before I leave at 6:15am. Right now it looks like I'll have 4 Rubbermaid containers and about 8 very large garbage bags as my donation. I am almost to the point of being able to park in the garage again. I just have to get my brother Rick to find new homes for the stuff that he was putting over on my side of the garage.
